31 AUGUST GAME RECAP: Tiger in the Tank
it was all about the Tigers. The Roosters scored 5 in the first and had they stopped the game, they would have won. However, the
game extended over nine innings and it wan't the Roosters' day. Despite two long home runs off the bat of Evilio JR, the Roosters did not have enough corn and soybeans to maintain a sustained attack. Relentless hitting from Tigers by Huston, Alvarez, Maldonado, Carmine and Chadwick set up many runs. Jacobs smashed long drive for bases clearing triple. Nuznio, Wallace and Theresa were bright spots in the Rooster offense.

10 AUGUST GAME RECAP: Back and forth
In a game where the lead bobbled back and forth, it seemed as if Weil's homer in the fifth inning would be enough for the Roosters. However, the Tigers wore their hitting shoes and rallied for four in the sixth, two in the seventh and five more runs in the eighth to push their lead 22-16. It was all too much for the Roosters despite Evilio JR. long home run in the Rooster sixth.

03 August Game Recap: Washout
Things were rocking along quite well as the rain was nowhere in sight when the game started. Roosters jumped out 10-1 lead only to be challenged later by the Tigers. The rains came in the seventh inning and washed out the game. We were dort of lucky as tropical storm Debby headed up the west coast of Florida towards Tampa.

20 JULY GAME RECAP:
Want to thank the many players and friends who offered their COVID prescriptions, all of which are helpful and most appreciated. Happy to report that Rooster has turned the corner and heading back to full health. Worst part was the nagging cough that seemed to finally break this morning. Nunzio send the game report and Roosters took a bath as they were shut out over the first six innings. Tigers payed well on both sides of the plate ad built an insurmountable lead.

13 July GAME RECAP:
It was COVID that kept me off the field on Saturday. Feeling better and hoping for speedy return. Verryl informs he will be sidelined due to knee replacement surgery sometime in August. I heard tthe Tigers lead most of the way but were caught in late innings. A few runs here and a few runs there, the Tigers squeezed by one run.

06 JULY GAME RECAP: Flybitus!!
The Rooster has landed and is back from Queenstown, Maryland 20th Penn Family reunion. Nieces and nephews are getting married, new babies being born and old folks getting older. Activities included boating, tennis, pickle ball eating, swimming, blue crabs, golf, skeet shooting , carf games, chess matches and more eating. I heard good things about the game but Tigers had a case of long ball flybitis....or a case of hitting long flly balls into Rooster Gloves. Ed is once again doing the teams and expecting a full game turnout. Tim Garito was injured l(hamstring) ast week and hope for his speedy recovery.

29 JUNE GAME RECAP: Fun in the sun.
When the game began, Rooster gloves had holes in them, sun was in their eyes and the ball kept bouncing past them. Thier defense gave away five runs in the second and five more in the third allowing Tigers to take the early lead 10-7. Leading the way for the Tigers was Tim Garito who had four doubles in the game but apparently not as many as he had the night before. Rooster bats pushed home five runs in each the third, fourth and fifth innings to open 21-19 lead after eight. A bases clearing triple by Micahel Paradiso salted the game away as Roosters rallied for four in the ninth to seal the victory. Teams courtesy of Ed Nassan.

Before the game, the Commissioner reported on the 18 June meeting of the Executive Committee. It was decided the League shall expand by year end. Players are encourabged to "invite a friend" and to make other suggestions. Commissioner shall create a mailing list to be sent to potential candiates. The Banquet BBQ shall be held next year and a committee shall be formed in advance to ensure that all arrangements are made on time. Ed Nassan was thanked and apprecited for his outstanding League work. The summer fields were announced. Special thanks to Harvey who has been taping our games and playing them on U-Tube.

The game was hampered by the threat of rain but we dodged a bullet as rain skirted the field all morning. Ed Nassan's field efforts prevailed and the entire game was played after one rain delay. Although the Roosters scored four in the first inning, their bats went silent and did not score again until the seventh inning. In meantime, Tiger bats were busy as they bolted out to 13-4 lead until Roosters scored four in the seventh to close the gap. For the Tigers, it was all about the long ball. Home run King Harvey blasted two homers but the dagger was hit by Evilio JR in the eighth inning capping a five run Tiger rally to put the game out of reach. Roosters rallied for six in their half of the inning but it was "too little too late. Their five inning scoring drought cost Roosters the gsme. Teams we made by Ed Nassan.

15 JUNE GAME RECAP: Tigers are back!
The outlook wasn't good for the Tigers after Roosters bolted to 13-7 lead after three innings. Evilio JR was on his game and blasted three Rooster homers. However, Rooster bats went to sleep and failed to score in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Meanwhile, Tigers were busy scoring fourteen unanswered runs. Tiger bats were lead by Garito, Nassan, Carmine, Gottleib and Maldonado. Tigers held 21-15 lead going into bottom of the ninth. Roosters had a mini rally but could not score more than three runs giving Tigers their first victory in the last seven games.

08 JUNE GAME RECAP: Rooster streak hits 6 in a row.
Is there something weird about wearing a red shirt? Tigers had all the lumber but Roosters had all the runs. In the bottom of the first, Evilio JR led off the Tiger inning with an inside the park home run. The combination of Evilio JR, John Huston and big bopper, Gregg Alvarez was not enough. After the opening inning, Tiger big bats largely fell silent as they watched Roosters score consistently. Nunzio (4-4), Nassan, Shedwick, Scotty, Garito and Jeff Weill led the offense. Ira and Mark Lipper teamed up on the mound to keep the Tiger hitters off balance. There were outstanding fielding plays by Nassam, Weill and Nunzio.

01 JUNE GAME RECAP: Evilio JR. X 3.
It was a big day for Evilio, JR blasting three homers over the fence.Tigers, heavily stacked with big bats led 16-11 going into the bottom of the fifth when Evilio Jr smacked the second of his three long balls to tie the score 16-16 after five innings. Alvarez hit a along ball to boost Tigers. At that point, Tiger bats went frozen and they scored only one lonesome run from the sixth inning thru the ninth. In the Rooster seventh, Evilio Jr. struck for the third time and capped the Rooster scoring. There were excellent fielding plays by Alvarez, Weill, Evilio SR., Nunzio (4-4), JR., Rooster and Terry L.who grabbed a long ball at the fence off Harvey's bat. Between innings, Harvey received Dunkin' Donuts Award for winning the SSSA Home Run Champuionship. Roosters have now won five in a row. Thanks to Harvey, this game can be see on U-Tube.

25 MAY GAME RECAP: Close Call.
They say when you get lemons, just make lemonade. Short on numbers owing to Holiday travel and tournaments in the area, the players hung together and played a great game today. Roosters spurted out front after three innings and built 15-6 lead. Tiger bats woke up by scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to knot the score 17-17. Roosters scored five more in the sixth only to be tied by the Tigers 22-22 going into the final inning. A Rooster single (his fifth hit of the day), sparked a two run rally that was capped by Theresa's RBI hit. Tigers could only manage one run in the last half of the inning and their final rally was snuffed out when the ball landed snugly into Theresa's glove for the final out. Game ball to Theresa with the game winning RBI and game saving catch to end the game.

18 MAY GAME RECAP: Who made these teams?
On a warm day of high humidity, the ball did not travel far and the score was held down. After seven innings, the score was tied 8-8 when Tigers rallied in for four runs with some clutch hitting from Garito, Alvarez and Shadwick. However, Rooster bats finally came alive in the bottom of the eighth. A bases clearing home run to right center off the bat of Harvey did the trick and paved the way to narrow victory.

11 MAY GAME RECAP: Fun under the sun.
If the goal is having fun then this game accomplished the objective. Roosters jumped out early with three runs in top of the first. Some strange baserunning held back the Tigers. After retrieving a single to left, Eganthal tossed to Evilio JR who's perfect throw to third base arrived in time to nab Montonaldo. Later in the game Scotty E was nabbed by Rooster and Nunzio in a run down trying to advance to second. After a long ball by Evilio JR and a dinger by Eganthal, the Roosters held off a five run rally by Tigers to grab the lead after five innings 12-9. In the meantime, Rooster was enjoying a career day both on the field and at the plate. Apart from flashing leather at first base, Rooster doubled and singled to left field. It appears that he is ready to emerge from a twenty year slump. At the end of the day, Lipper relieved Ira and slammed the door on the Tigers by hurling scoreless innings seven through nine. Rooster offense bolstered by
Evilio JR, Theresa, Furst, Eganthal, Comeau and Nunzio. Tigers had many chances but questionable base running and porous fielding held them back. Evilio SR celebrated his 83rd birthday.

04 MAY GAME RECAP: A few runs here, a few runs there!
The Tigers did all the hitting but the Roosters did all the scoring. Good defense, fair play and a lot of fun moved this game along. Louu,
had a perfect day at the plate. for the Tigers. For Roosters, Ira pitched well in the beginning and gave way to Verryl who closed the door.

BOOK REVIEW: "Your ABC's to Happiness and Good Mental Health" by T.L.Floyd.
If it's happiness and good mental health you're after, the caution from the authors is that you better get to work. The authors state early on, "Happiness is not by chance but by choice"...."happiness is a personal decision. You can decide whether or not you want to be happy."
Being happy "takes an inner change in your attitude and perspective. This is good news because it's something all of us can do."

The advice in this book is presented in alphabetical order from A thru Z. From "acknowledgement and avoid" to "zestful and zoo," this book provides the reader with valuable tools, tips and pointers. In particular, G is for gratitude and giving back to society." H is for "happiness and healthy." K "is for kindness." L is for "laughter and learning new things." P is for "power of prayer, positivity and politeness." R is for "respect and relationships." Unfortunately, there are only 26 letters in the alphabet as these authors could have gone further on their goodwill mission of sharing their keys to happiness and good mental health.

This book leads the way by providing tools and guides for happiness but the rest is up to you. As the authors point out, "nobody is happy all of the time" but the purpose of writing this book is to" boost your mood, handle your emotions better, build resiliance and help people get through the rough times." This book meets its objectives and does not disappoint.

27 APRIL GAME RECAP: How to tame a Tiger.
Tigers scored five runs in the top of the first and sent the message this would be a ball game. Roosters managed to push across three in the first and two more in the second. By the time Ed Nassan knocked one over the left field fence, Roosters were ahead 15-10. Tiger bats did not participate until the seventh when they scored seven runs courtesy of a grand salami by Maldonado. Roosters continued to hit and widened their lead to secure victory. Defensive award to Theresa who battled the sun all game in right field. Garito, Hair, Ersland all chipped in with their bats.

20 APRIL GAME RECAP: It doesn't get much better than this!
Roosters moved out to an early lead 10-2 until Tiger bats caught fire in the bottom half of the fifth. Tigers connected for three in the fifth, five in the sixth and grabbed the lead 15-12 going into the top of the ninth. Lipper and Rooster singled and after Ira walked, bases were loaded and the stage was set. After base hits by Theresa, Klavon and Alvaez, the Roosters forged their way in front 17-15. However,
Tigers clawed backs when Bobby Quickie lined a two out single to left batting in the winning run in walk off fashion. Bobby had three hits and it was a fitting way to celebrate his 75th Birthday. Ed Nassan pitched for the Tigers mixed his pitches well and went the distance to earn the victory. Ira hurled five innings for the Roosters and left with 10-5 lead. Lipper took over and Tigers liked what they saw,

13 APRIL GAME RECAP: Not much to write home about.
The game looked like a lock for the Tigers as they sprinted to an early 8-1 lead. Roosters made a game out of it as they tied the score through five innings 10-10. However,Tigers were relentless in their pursut and kept scoring until they built an insurmountable lead. Scott
E stole the show with two spectacular "shoe string" catches to end both innings for the Roosters. The Rooster gloves were porous and their defense suffered as balls went whizzing by the fielders. Tiger bats were led by Hair, Perry and Louu who peppered the ball all game. For the Roosters, both Plevy and Nunzio had perfect days at the plate. Alvarez hit in the clutch but it wasn't enough.

06 APRIL GAME RECAP:
It was a serious case of "Tigeritis" that locked up the Tiger bats until bottom of the eighth when they scored seven runs. By that time, it was already too late as the Roosters has taken early command and rolled into 26-17 victory. Consistent offense and good fielding made the day for the Roosters.
